Stillness, Interrupted
A quiet weekend sits beside a loud truth: justice is still waiting at the door.
Hey Small Biters,
Weekends have a way of asking us to slow down. But this one didn’t whisper peace — it asked a question instead.
This week, Senator Chris Van Hollen flew to El Salvador. Not for trade talks. Not for diplomacy. He went to advocate — for one man: Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Maryland resident wrongfully deported under the Trump administration’s accelerated removal campaign.
Kilmar had legal protection. A pending asylum case. A family. A life in the U.S. And still, he was shackled, deported, and placed into a foreign prison. The Supreme Court ruled that he must be brought back. The administration shrugged.
That should terrify us.
Van Hollen found him — not in the notorious CECOT facility where he was first detained, but moved quietly to another holding site. The senator called it what it is: a defiance of the law and a failure to meet even the most basic obligations to due process.
But the government hasn't moved. The deportation wasn’t corrected. The court's decision hasn’t been honored. And Kilmar remains in custody abroad.
Meanwhile, the same administration now wants to end birthright citizenship — a bedrock right, protected since 1868, suddenly made debatable again. Next month, the Supreme Court will hear oral arguments on whether a president can deny citizenship to babies born on U.S. soil to noncitizen parents.
What’s being tested isn’t just constitutional interpretation — it’s the elasticity of truth.
So this weekend sits differently. It carries a quiet tension. The kind that hums beneath stillness. That says: you don’t have to be loud to be awake.

The court has spoken,
but silence stays.
The man remains,
the world delays.Not every theft
involves a wall.
Sometimes, justice
doesn’t call.
🍽 A Small Bite to Carry
The law only works when power listens.
Being here is not the same as being safe.
Even when the news feels far away, it’s shaping the rules we wake up under.
Warm regards,
Small Bites
Have a great weekend!!

Thank U, Senator Van Holden, we need your valiant actions and other Patriots to prove our Constitution applies to our POTUS! Bring #47's deported innocent victims home!
The Trump administration is operating on lynch mob logic to please their lynch mob base.
